Chromosomes are the suspended threads in the nuclear plasma in the nucleus of the cell. They contain how a cell needs to work in order. They even contain genetic material and DNA ( deoxyribo nucleic acid.) which are one of the most important par of the cell.

the functions are:

1.helps in division of labour.
2. transfers the traits to the offspring (child).

(Chroma-colour,soma-body).It is thread like structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes. It passes genetic characters from parents to their offspring. The stucture of chromosome helps to ensure the DNA remains tightly wrapped around the proteins;otherwise,DNA molecules would be too large for the inside of the cells.

The Function of Chromosomes. Chromosomes are the thread-like structure found in the nuclei of both animal and plant cells. They are made of protein and one molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). … During this cell division, DNA must remain intact and keep its even distributionthroughout the cells.
