The mitrochondria is an important part of the cell. It is known as the power house of the cell.It contains ATP ( adinocine tri phosphate). When we work or exercise the ATP is responsible for providing energy to the cell to break down the important substances and provide oxygen in the body.
Mitochondria is the power house of the cell.It is called so because it produces an enormous amounts of ATP.Also,mitochondria is the primary site for metabolic pathways such as Krebs cycle,Electron Transport Chain (ETC) ,Fatty acid biosynthesis(generation of acetyl CoA),etc.Mitochondria is one of the semi autonomous organelle in the cell.

In genetics, the are some chromosomal DNA in them which is passed to offspring from mother as eggs are solely made from the mother’s genes.. This is the rationale behind transmission of some genetic disorders from mother to offspring.
The mitochondrion is the site for beta oxidation of fatty acids into two carbon subunits for energy creation.. It is also the site for the electron transport cycle for oxidation of reducing equivalents ie. Reduced NAD and FAD.. To form water and release energy. It is also where the keen cycle occurs with the bottom line of energy production.
All the happen here because of the localization of enzymes for certain metabolic processes in the mitochondrion, thus serving as the energy factory
